Previous Summer Musical Theatre Workshops
Previously, 32 high school students from around the Chicagoland area (some as far as Rockford and Bourbonnais) participated in the Summer Musical Theatre Workshop. Every weekday these students commuted into the city for an experience of a lifetime. This workshop was held at Loyola University Chicago.
Theatre professionals from all over Chicago worked together with the students, some working on the new Sondheim musical “BOUNCE” at the Goodman Theatre.
Six weeks of basic training took place from 8-2pm. Training covered the fundamentals of acting, movement for the stage, voice and diction, choral singing, audition techniques, stage combat, basic stage makeup, yoga and interview skills.
Students rehearsed for three hours a day in order to produce “LES MISERABLES”.
The end result:
- A full production of “LES MISERABLES” with professional stage, sound and lighting technicians
- Sold out performances
- 362 costume pieces
- 23 piece professional orchestra
